Description

Janvier 2018.

Vlaanderen.” Er ging een lampje bij me branden dat Lode Bucsan me ooit gevraagd had om eens
samen te spelen. Zo gezegd, zo gedaan. Lode tipte me op Gerald Ryckeboer. Twee weken later

January 2018. An old friend, Gaby Delassus, calls me to ask if I want to give a concert in Lillers for
the Belgian Week. He also asks me if I can come with some musicians because they would
primarily like to hear the songs from the 1974 album “Traditional Songs of French
Flanders” (« Traditionele volksmuziek uit Frans-Vlaanderen. »)
It was then that I remembered that Lode Buscan once invited me to play together. And it was
Lode who told me to contact Gérald Ryckeboer. Two weeks later, this new trio performed on the
podium of the Abattoir in Lillers, a tavern as nostalgic as the music played that evening.
As a concert may hide many others, since Lillers we are playing together and, at the request of
the public, we have decided to record a live album, so that the ‘74 album finds a second life with
the addition of a few new songs.
The recordings are made at home, in Vlamertinge, surrounded by friends who added their musical
or vocal support. Almost all of the songs are taken from Edmond de Coussemaker’s books “ Popular song of the
Flemings of France ” and “Oud Iepersch liedboek.” (Old Ypres Songbook). So, thank you friends
for being here. A big thank you to Antje den Ouden, Youra Marcus, Martina Diessner for their musical contribution
and to mum Christine Gonce for the good care.
Thanks also to Dominique Bommel (BemolVpc.com) and Bruno Lobert (Radio
Uylenspiegel) for their help and encouragement.
